Literature Text

I stand upon the quiet shore,
The waves lap 'round my feet,
Alone am I within the realm,
Where nature's forces meet.

All the world is calm and still,
My breath the only sound,
If I let go the windowsill,
I'm sure I'd leave the ground.

Through the waters clear and pure,
I swiftly wend my way,
I must return back to these shores,
Before the break of day.

But like an incandescent globe,
Of lovely silver pearl,
The moon, the moon, it calls to me,
As 'round me currents swirl.

The dawn, the dawn is breaking now,
I glimpse the sun's first rays,
Away, away I hurry back,
I shall return someday.
I wrote this back in grade 9.
